He is a Consultant Otolaryngologist, Head and Neck Surgeon at Christchurch Public Hospital and a Senior Lecturer with the Christchurch School of Medicine. His sub specialty interests are in Facial Plastic Surgery, Rhinology (management of nasal and sinus disorders) and Paediatric Ear, Nose and Throat disorders. Chris consults privately at "Specialists at NINE", 9 Caledonian Road and operates at both the St George’s and Southern Cross private hospitals.

He has trained in both facial plastic surgery and otolaryngology, head and neck surgery.  He has completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery at The Stuart Clinic, Sydney, under Dr Martyn Mendelsohn a leading Australian Facial Plastic Surgeon. Chris has authored a number of published articles in international journals and has presented papers on rhinoplasty and other topics at international meetings.
